    I think the biggest lesson for you will come in through this thread itself. You may find, after all, its not that easy to motivate people to take action, much less form a coherent strategy and run with it.

    My guess is in the end you will come out cursing not just the core but all IV members for them lacking or something, because they can't get on board with your idea.

    The only reason IV has been able to achieve something with such a low amount of "per capita" effort is because it's an "apoltical" and "volunteer" organization. You change that to "political", and amount of effort (time and money) people will contribute will fizzle out before you can have your post election party!

    My suggestion: Open a parallel organzation. Learn what it takes to get people on board with your agenda. if you DELIVER SOMETHING, people will automatically follow you.

    Funds will follow if people see viability. Anywaz nothing is coming out of lobbying efforts so currently how does it even matter ?

    Dear members,

    As we enter the final week of our rally preparation we would like to thank our members that have indicated that they would be coming for the rally. We also want to thank all state chapter and action item leaders for helping us out in this massive effort. This planning, coordination and implementation cannot happen without the help of each and every member. Help has ranged from phone call campaigns, publicity campaigns, media campaigns, lawmaker meetings, banner preparations, Merchandise set up, state chapter activities, Bus initiatives, Transportation and accommodation initiatives, sponsorships, reaching out to law offices and like minded organizations etc to tasks as important as deciding the Dinner menu for the Sept 17 event.

    We still have a long way to go in our planning and implementation. IV membership is working hard to make this rally a success. The Sept 17th lobby day work is being implemented at this time and lawmaker office appointments are being sought. Everyone that has indicated their presence for this event will be contacted this week. We are planning a big reception event on September 17, from 6PM to 9PM at the Cannon Building in DC. IV members, lawmakers, staffers, industry leaders and other like minded organizations are expected to attend this event. It will be a great opportunity for IV members to meet these important representatives. There is also going to be a big Press event on Sept 18th that we are planning. There are several initiatives being taken to have a big media push for the rally. The rally is in itself a huge task that requires planning from getting all police permits (which we already have) to transporting rally material, providing registration opportunity for members, getting lawmakers to address the rally to details like stage and sound system.

    All this has required IV to invest heavily. We already invest almost all in our lobbying efforts and remaining little in Website maintenance till now and somehow manage to run this organization on shoestring budgets. We need about 30 thousand dollars in the next 8 days to make sure we can meet our needs and also make a big impact via this rally. This rally will most certainly bring our issues to the national center stage and help us get much needed immigration relief.

    This post urges everyone to come forward and help us in this short term funding drive. If you have not contributed till now, please consider contributing. If you have got your Receipt notice/FP notice/EAD etc. then do show your admiration for our combined effort via lobbying, San Jose rally and Flower campaign that enabled everyone to file their I485s. If you have recently received your green cards, then please consider contributing as a way of celebrating and endorsing our effort.

    Sept 13, update.
    Here is a small update on this drive. After seeing such great support and commitment from everyone, we have decided to invest in some media publicity effort. You will see a major push in this by Immigrationvoice and we all will be happy to see the kind of awareness and impact it will make on the Rally day. We have a modest budget of 11 thousand dollars for this effort added to the overall need of 30 thousand for the rally effort. Lets reach of this number (30+11= 41K) and even exceed the expectations in the next 4 days.

    Very big statement.

    There are problem with the USCIS that is affecting everyone in this forum but saying they are incompetent and don't have clue of management is a very big statement.



    In this era of IT, USCIS keeps crying about being bombarded suddenly with this application that applications. I wonder such a big agency doesn't have projections etc. When you Adjudicated millions of Green cards lin 2002-2003 than obviously you are going to get bombarded with Application for Citizenship in 2007 you weren't prepared for that ??? This organization is headed by most incompetant people who doesn't have any clue of Management, I guess they should go back to school...

    There's no law that employer should borne the cost of GC. I have spent almost 10K in my GC process until last year and 2K this year for EADs and APs. I spend about 3 K in one more GC process I started several years back which I abandoned because I changed the emloyer. I Spent 1000s of dollars in Visa stamping, H4 renewals. And yes I'm stuck for almost a decade. There are atleast 10 people I know who are in similar situations, so I'm guessing there'll be thousands in USA. These are facts it may not apply to you but does apply to lot of people here...

    Don't get me wrong. There are so many good lawyers. I have talked to few of them who are reputed and didn't even charge me for my first call. However what I said above is based on this (http://immigration-information.com/forums/showpost.php?p=18642&postcount=9). If you read entire thread, you would know what I meant.

    "As those of you who have read this forum for many years know, I believe that it is a waste of time and money for someone to try to maintain H status while waiting for AOS approval. I know that the conventional Internet wisdom is that this is the thing to do. The problem is, proponents of that position cannot offer any legal or rational authority for their position.

    There are a number of law firms that represent employers only. They do work on behalf of their clients' employees, but they don't directly represent those employees. The employees are third party beneficiaries of their work.

    While it costs an employer more to keep an employee in H status, many companies undertake this cost because they know that if an employee wishes to move elsewhere, it is more difficult to do so if the new employer has to file an H transfer petition, rather than simply recording the new employee's EAD number.

    If an attorney represents the company, and not the employee, then the attorney has no duty to the employee and does not have to advise the employee as to what is best for him or her. Also, attorney's make far more money filing H petitions as opposed to filing EAD/AP applications."

    So one MUST ALWAYS keep EAD in hand till 485 is adjujicated.

    This is a very interesting find. But lets keep doing more research until we are concrete about whats the best option

    Please continue to post your comments on the letter - the sooner we can all agree upon the content, the sooner we can start sending these out.

    Also, is there a possibility of having a common meeting (all retrogressed EB3 candidates) with Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren expressing our situation - just a thought.

    Yesterday I went to the Local INS office after making an infopass appointment. Requested the IO to expedite my AP he looked at current processing dates for Nebraska Center Aug 15 I applied on July 20 INS process date on receipt notice August 25. He told me they would start looking at my case soon. I mentioned to him I need it expedited he asked why I showed him a letter from employer that I needed to travel outside us he said its not life death emergency. I insisted that if i didn't go I would get fired lose my job, he wait let me check with manager after 20 minutes he came back and said his manager agrees to process as emergency. He took all my original supporting documents and told me he was going to fax them to Nebraska center and also email to them. I mentioned to him that I have to leave by Feb 11 again he went to his manager and he said thats the best I can do. He took my phone number. I have not heard for INS no LUD on my case yet. If i don't leave by feb 17 kiss my job good bye. Anything else you guys recommend i can do. I also faxed the Nebraska center a request expedite still haven't hear or seen anything. :(
