As far as i know, name checks are cleared whithin a few months of RD or few months after 1st Fingerprint. This would just give you some peace of mind...

Well, you could still try and apply in EB2, as you mentioned earning a master's degree.
I am one of those who came in 98 on F1 and went through 3 different GC processes (all EB2) to finally see the CPO email now. No regrets though, as I changed employers a few times (resulting in dropping the first two GC processes) to achieve growth (higher salaries, actually).

IRS faq clearly states that everyone on the tax return should have ssn. Even if one has ITIN no one will get the extra refund. Please read IRS faqs

I myself am filing for extension to get ssn for my wife, i have her EAD but she is in India, so have to wait for her to come back and file for ssn.

A: No. The law does not allow stimulus payments to people who file a return using an ITIN. A taxpayer must have a valid Social Security Number to qualify for the stimulus payment. Immigrating legally to the U.S seemed like a gold opportunity when I was offered to work here six years ago with an H1B visa. As a matter of fact, all my friends and family considered that it would have been crazy not to take advantage of the "opportunity" to live and work in the most developed country on Earth.
It's been six long years of challenges and learning experiences, but mostly it's been six years of financial distress, anxiety, paralysis and uncertainty.
We applied for PR four years ago, but in the process my wife and I have eaten all our saving in lawyer fees - and at this point we're just one more number in the long list of EB3 applicants who don't have the remotest idea of when visa numbers will become available so we can have a normal life. I don't even consider traveling to my country cause I don't have the money to pay for APs for me and my wife. My career has been also frozen since I cant take promotions to higher positions that will fall off the job description stated in my PERM.
If I had known about this ordeal, I would have never come to the US. I would have looked for other options, in countries that have a more sincere and generous immigration policies instead. If the US is not interested in allowing people to legally immigrate through visas based on employment, they simply should eliminate these visas and make clear that they don't want us to stay. Wouldn't that be easy for everyone?
I would return to my country if we didn't have a nasty political turmoil and the social decay that comes with it. Yet, I feel that the days go by and our lives are entangled in this absurd situation.

Can you please take some time to send web faxes(faxid- 20) to all the state senetors using the link on the home page , if you have not already done so. and also call them if time permits.
Coming to ur note , I guess , people who apply from F1 to I-485 you are referring are not the primary green card applicants. They are dependents on primary applicatns. If not, can you tell me what they are studying and how they can apply green card from F1? I am not aware of this route.

Bank Of America denied my car loan. They want only US citizens or GC holders. I have EAD and apparently its not good at all for anything. I can't even get my drivers license. The DMV is waiting for a response from DHS, until then I have to find other means to go to work.
The other day at walmart, I paid my groceries, as usual with the credit card, so the walmart person wanted to see my ID. I showed her my EAD, she said she cannot accept that...she wants to see my Drivers License..I said it is expired and the only legal document with a photo ID is my EAD which is issued by the federal Gov...she was not convinces but said, "aahhh!!! thats okay, I trust you." and let me go...till the end she was not convinced in her mind.

If you are in EB2, then might as well go for PP for the I-140. Regular at Nebraska is taking 8 months. Given the way dates move erratically, if you get current in the next couple of months (I hope you do, mine is the same PD) you wont have I-140 to worry about, you'll be all set.
