ya just because u need green card, you agree with professor sahib. once u get ur green card u will also talk bad about india and indian workers.. i think gone r days when it was a cheap labor.. do u think our education systems/colleges IIT's/REC's are crap.
just because he favored GC applicant you should not agree..he straightway projected india as third world nation in eductaion, resource quality etc ..
I totally totally agree with Professor Sahib! I wish the government listens to him. What he is saying is good for everyone. As Indians we want America to succeed and prosper and we want to be a big part of the reason they prosper.

Dreaming on the April Visa Bulletin in the US
How about placing a fast forward button and soon you will realized that the US Immigration DOS will issue a spectacular Visa Bulletin for April 2009. See the results of the said bulletin. The Employment base Visas will be current except China. So how did the USCIS allocate these number of Visas, for sure Obama had precedent a recapture except China.

He is saying what is the truth. Do you believe that Indian universities are as good as American? If so, why do we come here?
Simple answer is jobs in the US pay better than jobs in India, therefore people come here for the economic opportunity.
As far as Wadhwa's statements disparaging the quality of Indian education go, he is looking after his interests. He runs an engineering program at Duke and needs to keep students interested in enrolling. How many students will keep enrolling once they find out they are being royally fleeced by American universities and that they could go to India and get a equivalent or better degree for a fraction of the price?

Most of the Indian companies (TCS, Wipro, Infy, etc) have more than 50% H1Bs, I believe.
They will bring/hire more resources to near shore (if not onsite) Brazil/Canada to satisfy clients...This year the demand for H1b is around 25K.... next year that may go down to 10-15K... good for future EB -AOS applicants.. :-)

There seems to be 2 different opions about the process after CIS has received hundreds of thousands of applications until Aug 17th.
1. Once received, CIS cannot sort out the applications according to PD, so only RD is important.
2. PD is still an important factor, so if CIS is stuck with tons of applications on their hand, they will prioritize them by PD, which means if you have PD Dec 2004 and RD Jul 25 2007, you will be approved earlier than someone with PD Mar 2005 and RD Jul 2 2007.
Greg Siskind, an immigration lawyer known to most folks here for his blog, says in his new FAQs that CIS should work on by PD.
I think that's a fair thing, but I'm wondering how they would be able to sort out the flood of applications. Any idea?

Dems are unlilkely to support stand alone EB/ SKIL type legislations. They MAY agree for such legislation
(1) if they could get some cover with additional legislation like Durbin-Grasley restrictive bill on H1B - taking care of "middle class" "suffering" from "H1B cheap foreign labor" vote bank
(2) and get some pro-illegal legislation like DREAM act attached; taking care of Hispanic vote bank.

as per you, your I-140 was never denied.
My I-140 was never denied. In fact the date 09/04/2007 that NSC mentions about the denial is the date that I got approval notice. I have the approval copy from USCIS. I am not sure what the adjudicating officer is looking on his terminal.

My adjustment application is pending for almost five years now. I was not in the habit of tracking LUDs but of late I was tracking and concluded that most of the time it means nothing.
Here is what happened today. My attorney had applied for my travel document on Jan 28. I got three soft LUDs between Feb 8 to 10. Status remaing same "Case received and pending". To my surprise today I received my travel documents from my attorney. The issue date on the document is March 5. My attorney mailed it to me on March 3, I believe as soon as he received it.
The last LUD on my case is still Feb 10 and the status still says "Received and Pending".
I think we should not go too much by the LUDs.

I think sending out emails to everyone wont serve the purpose. It will become more of a Spam from IV, which won't help in any way.
AFAIK, IV sends email to its members, when they have updates. I hope this helps.
Also, all the state chapter leaders have been asked to sent out emails to their respective state chapters. So, people will be knowing about this campaign.
GO IV GO. TOGTHER WE CAN.

Thanks sy. I fully agree it's the agent we deal with. My BOA loan coordinator is extremely stubborn & doesn't have any clue regarding immigration. From day 1 she is stuck on unexpired I-94 & till today she asks me to furnish that. Is it possible that I can contact you or any of your friends through email / phone & discuss to check where I am going wrong. I can furnish my contact details if needed.
DCU is the way to go. To get membership, you may have to donate a few dollars to some group and become a member, before you can open an account. Their rates are competitive, and closing costs are "very decent". 90% of the stuff can be done over ph/fax/email. The best thing that my friend said was even without 20% down payment, his PMI (private mortgage insurance) was a mere 30 dollars (for a 220k home).
