Hi,
I am currently on 8th year of H1-B, employer to file for 9th year H1 extension next week. Labor filed in Dec 07, denied in Jan 10, appealed immediately. Currently awaiting response to the labor appeal. H1 expires in Jan 2011.
I work for a consulting firm and my client has been requesting me to join full time as an employee, willing to transfer H1 immediately. My question to the experts is
If I change employer, will I have to start everything from scratch or can i continue the GC from where my current employer left?
And given the current political situation (due to the economy), should I stick to current employer until H1 extension goes through and then make a move (if any possibilities exist)?
Any advise is much appreciated.

I got my EAD last October (filed for my I-485 on July 02, '07) but did not apply for my AP then;
Now I need to apply for my EAD renewal and am also thinking of getting an AP. Do I need to get an AP for the current year (that is for the time period from Oct '07 to Oc 08) and then apply for AP extension or can I directly apply for AP for Oct '08 to Oct '09?
the second option will save me money and so for me that is the preferred one :D
any information on this is much appreciated,

I believe finger print needs to be obtained somehow to varify the person. Hope it is not damaged too much. Why dont you try to obtain a doctor's letter stating that she had some blisters and is recovering? Usually for ladies it shouldn't be much of an issue but just as a precaution. The POE officers are usually good towards Indian ladies, particularly when they travel alone. So dont worry too much.

I am not sure what is so important in this to answer.
As long as thay had sent the finger prints to you, you should be OK. There is no particular pattern in which they send the EAD cards. So, no body can answer your question about when will you get the EAD. Just pray and watch. If it is more than 90 days since you have applied for your EAD, then you may contact your local office to expedite the process.

Sorry for posting this question again. but since I did not get an answer, I am posting again to see if some one can advise regarding this. I am trying to look up dates for H1 visa stamping in Canada and the website says no appointments for 6 weeks. I am thinking of going for visa stamping in July. is there any chance that they might open up some more appointments in the next few days even though it says unavailable currently? please post your comments and experiences regarding this.

Well need some help. I moved from H1-B to F1 visa to do masters. Now I want to quit F1 in middle and go back to doing H1-B and continue masters part time.
I know there are still slots open for H1-B for 2010. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Now I can do summer internship untill August 26, the question is, how can I work for the employer for the month of September? since H1B starts on Oct 1st. I can do CPT full time but, then again I heard you can not quit CPT in middle of the semester.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

USCIS has announced that it is working on a rule to create an electronic registration system for H-1B employers subject to the annual cap. Employers would first register an application and be allocated an H-1B cap number and then would file the case. The idea is that employers would need to register to claim an H-1B cap number first and then if they are selected, they then would prepare and file the case. I have an I-485 that will be current soon, but I am not employed. If they approve it, will that be considered a mistake and make it invalid? Should I withdraw it? Will a letter explaining the situation be sufficient? I have another application as a dependent, just takes longer.

Currently, I am working with software firm (not a contract work). My wife is re applying for H4 visa. she applied for h4 last year in Feb, i used to work with contracting firm then and refused under 214b(immigration intent). This time we are applying through attorney. Attorney have sent email thrice to Islamabad consulatein Pakistan stating that denial under 214(b) for H4 is not valid reason.
But no response from them.
However my wife is applying again and taking letter with her from attorney stating that reason was invliad.
I am wondering
1- Do we need to highlight the previous denial so much as she is applying on new h1B now
2- in any case, can they revoke and cancel my petition as if they do not find any valid reason to reject again.
I am looking forward to hear from you

If you have a pending permanent residency application you should still be able to work under h1b status, particularly if your i-140 is approved.

I'm trying to figure out how to make a 3d vector animation of a person walking or dancing. more specifically, the outline of a person walking/dancing.
I've seen this before on other sites, but can't remember where. sometimes it's the 3d outline animation, sometimes its asingle-color 2d animation. does that make sense. I'll try to post an example if I find one.
Anyway, does anyone know this process or know of a place that shows how it's done? thanks.

You should change to H-4 (assuming you are eligible) if you are not working. You should be able to change back H-1B later and get the remainder of your 6 years, without being subject to the cap, if you find a new employer. It is important not to violate status now, and not working violates your H-1 status even if the lack of work is not your choice.
